T Minus 51 - And Yet Another Double Dose Of Dumbya

"This is an urban environment. Right over here is Juarez. And people are able to easily come into the border - into Texas, in this part of - in part of the border."

"We're also increasing the number of agents that will be working in the internal part of the country to find those who've broken the law and bring them to justice." -- George orWell Bush, El Paso, Texas, November 29th, 2005

"...into the border..."??!? "...internal part of the country..."??!?

What a maroon. In 51 days Boy Blunder will exit, stage "right." January 20th, 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

T Minus 52 - Another Double Dose Of Dumbya

"Those who enter the country illegally violate the law."

"Every new citizen of the United States has an obligation to learn our customs and values, including liberty and civic responsibility, equality under God and tolerance for others, and the English language." --George orWell Bush, Tucson, Arizona, November 28th, 2005

January 20th, 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

T Minus 53

"The law I sign today directs new funds and new focus to the task of collecting vital intelligence on terrorist threats and on weapons of mass production." -- George orWell Bush, The White House, November 27th, 2002

You can't spell "worst" without "Dubya" - but you can be thankful that in 53 days January 20th will be The End Of An Error.

T Minus 54 - Another Classic Bushism

"We must continue the work of education reform, to bring high standards and accountability not just to our elementary and secondary schools, but to our high schools, as well." -- George orWell Bush, The White House, November 4th, 2004

January 20th, 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

T Minus 55 - Comrade Bush

"You'll hear, we're going to spend -- the government is going to spend the government money here, and the government is going to spend the government here." -- George orWell Bush, Trenton, New Jersey, September 23rd, 2002

And now we know where Boy Blunder is "spending the government" - AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Citicorp, TCF, etc etc etc.

Which led to this quote, from Socialist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez:

T Minus 56 - My Only Point

"My only point to you is, is that we're in constant contact with people on the ground to help make sure that we save lives. Now that the water is beginning to recede, the question is, how do we help with the recovery? And Secretary Chertoff briefed me on plans, particularly when it comes to housing. A lot of people are going to be wondering, is there short-term help for housing? And there is, and we'll provide that help.

Secondly, what's going to happen in the long term to the homes? And so Michael is going to set up a housing task force similar to the kind we set up in California for the wildfires, to work with state and local authorities to have an orderly strategy to help people get back in their homes.

I fully understand people are upset when they lose their home. A person's home is their most valued possession. And we want to work with state and local folks to have a clear strategy to help people find -- get back into a place that -- where they can live.

Secondly, we're worried about farmers and ranchers. The country that's being affected by these floods has got a lot of farm country, a lot of people raising livestock. And the Secretary of Agriculture has briefed me on the conditions -- and we're still assessing how widespread the damage is on the farmlands -- and assures me that his team is in place to help farmers and ranchers with the federal aid available.

And finally, Director Nussle is here from the Budget Office. We've got what we called a Disaster Relief Fund. There's enough money in that fund to take care of this disaster. But what we're concerned about is future disasters this year. And therefore, we're going to work with the Congress. Jim Nussle is going to go up to work with Congress to get enough money in the upcoming supplemental to make sure that fund is -- has got enough money to deal with a potential disaster, another disaster this year."(emphasis added) -- George orWell Bush, The White House, June 17th, 2008

My only point is in 56 days, January 20th 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

T Minus 57 - The Housing Bust, Explained

"I can remember the first home I bought in Midland, Texas. I remember going down to the savings and loan and sitting down with the savings and loan officer and negotiating with the savings and loan officer. Well, this day and age you're going to use -- mortgages have been bundled, so the savings and loan doesn't own the mortgage anymore, or the bank doesn't loan [sic] the mortgage anymore, the local lending institute doesn't loan [sic] the mortgage anymore: it's owned by some international group, perhaps, or it's been bundled into an asset. And so there's hardly anybody to negotiate with. And so some lenders [sic] aren't sure where to turn. They have credit-worthiness, they may get pinched as their interest rates reset." -- George orWell Bush, Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 17th, 2007

Well, give Dumbya partial credit; things have changed. But, since we can't expect Boy Blunder to explain how or why or what went wrong (one explanation is the election of "Bush The Lesser" - which is why we're doin' this countdown to "The End Of An Error"), who can we look to, to explain? Fortunately, a dedicated reader of MnBlue sent the ol' TwoPutter a YouTube that does just that! Let's look!!!

T Minus 58 - Boy Blunder Explains

"The legislature's job is to write law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret law." --George orWell Bush, Austin, Texas, November 22nd, 2000

And that's exactly how the misAdministration of Boy Blunder And The Plunderers ruled over these last eight years. And yes, I mean "ruled" - clearly, there was no attempt to govern with consent. But, that's a tangent. Getting back to "It's the executive branch's job to interpret law," this statement is part and parcel of their "unitary executive" philosophy. This philosophy interprets the Constitution's separation of powers to argue the power of Congress to check and balance the President's control of the executive branch is limited. I'd make a comment about the inherent hypocrisy of claiming to want "judges on the bench that don't intrepret the Constitution" when their view of Executive Power does exactly that, but: that, too, would be a tangent. Dick (cheney)in' Cheney is a strong adherent of this philosophy, which is why Biden called Cheney “the most dangerous vice president we've had probably in American history.” The Unitary Executive philosophy, in it's barest essence, is explained by Nixon, in his interview with David Frost:

T Minus 59 - A Classic Bushism

"The president and I also reaffirmed our determination to fight terror, to bring drug trafficking to bear, to bring justice to those who pollute our youth." -- George orWell Bush, speaking with Chilean President Ricardo Lagos, Santiago, Chile, November 21st, 2004

January 20th, 2009 will bring The End Of An Error.

T Minus 60 - Counting The Days

"This morning my administration released the budget numbers for fiscal 2006. These budget numbers are not just estimates, these are the actual results for the fiscal year that ended February the 30th." --George orWell Bush, Washington, D.C., October 11th, 2006

"February 30th", eh? No wonder Boy Blunder thought the economy was doin' fine.

January 20th - just sixty days - will be The End Of An Error.

TwoPuttTommy's picture

T Minus 61 - The Strongest In A Lifetime

"I appreciate the fact that Hank Paulson agreed to join my administration, after a long career as one of the world's most successful investment bankers. Here's how he puts it. He said, "This is far and away the strongest global economy I've seen in my business lifetime." In other words, not only is our economy strong, but so is the economies around the world." -- George orWell Bush, The Department Of Treasury, Washington, D.C., August 8th, 2007

One (cheney)in' year, and the economy goes from "the strongest in a lifetime" to the worst meltdown since The Great Depression??!?

Ladies and Gentlemen, you simply cannot believe anything that comes from the misAdministration of Boy Blunder And The Plunderers.

Thankfully, January 20th 2009 is The End Of An Error, and it's only 61 days away.

Remember the Missing In Action and Prisoners Of War

Last Saturday night in Duluth, I again had the privilege to dine as a guest with the Cadre and Cadets of the 420th Air Force ROTC Detachment. The Cadre's task is to lead, teach, and train these Cadets, who will become America's "Next Generation Of Heros." It's an honor to be with brave young men and women who willingly have volunteered to serve our country in the profession of arms - a profession they knowingly may put them directly in harm's way.

As we prepare to gather next week with family and friends for Thanksgiving, please consider a ceremony the Cadets performed before dinner was served at last Saturday's gathering - the same ceremony performed across this great country; the same ceremony recorded six months ago as performed by the Coral Springs Cadet Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary:

T Minus 62 - Acting Lessons

"We acted by holding corporate scoundrels to account. We said loud and clear, if you cheat the shareholder and your employees, you will be held responsible for those decisions. The world is now more peaceful because we acted." -- George orWell Bush, Fridley, Minnesota, June 19th, 2003

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boy Blunder And The Plunderers "acted" all "right"; they "acted" like they actually gave a rat's ssa about the plundering, when - of course - they couldn't care less. Five years ago Boy Blunder "acted" - and five years later, the world is suffering a financial meltdown.

Fortunately, in 62 days, January 20 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

T Minus 63 - Steadfast Beliefs

"You'll hear people say in Washington, well, we need to raise taxes in order to either pay for new programs or balance the budget. I happen to believe we can balance the budget without raising taxes if we're wise about how we spend your money. And we're proving it possible." -- George orWell Bush, Cleveland, Ohio, July 10th, 2007

I happen to believe you can't spell "worst" without "Dubya". Boy Blunder has proven over and Over and OVER that although he's steadfast in his beliefs, he's also usually wrong. And in 63 days, January 20th 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

Reality versus Reaganomics

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed yesterday, at 8,497 - a 338 point loss from the day before. The 52 week high was last December 11th - 13,850. So, what were the Reaganomics Disciples - Art Laffer, Ben Stein, et al - saying on the talking heads circuits prior to the meltdown? A dedicated reader sent the following YouTube - let's watch!

(editor's note: YouTube after the fold)

TwoPuttTommy's picture

T Minus 65 - "I Truly Do"

Reporter: "And banking — do you think the system is in trouble? "
Boy Blunder: "I think the system basically is sound, I truly do. And I understand there's a lot of nervousness. And — but the economy is growing, productivity is high, trade is up, people are working. It's not as good as we'd like, but — and to the extent that we find weakness, we'll move." -- George orWell Bush, The White House, July 15th, 2008

A little more than two months later, the financial meltdown was apparent to everyone, and the misAdministration of Boy Blunder And The Plunderers "moved" - they proposed a $700 Billion Dollar Bailout for Wall Street. So much for the system being "basically sound." But, hey - what's a measly $700 BILLION to a misAdministration that essentially doubled the National Debt?

I think a little more than two months from now, January 20th, 2009 will be The End Of An Error.

To quote Boy Blunder: "I truly do."

T Minus 66 - Saving America

"I believe government has an obligation to open its coffers for competitive bidding to faith-based and community-based groups in order to make sure America — America's souls are saved one person at a time." -- George orWell Bush, Nashville, Tennesse, August 30th, 2006

America will be saved on January 20th, 2009 - The End Of An Error

“substantially accurate, if not literally true.”

It seems Administrative Law Judge Barbara L. Neilson has tossed into the trashcan the second part of Team Smokescreen's smokescreen "administrative complaint" about Team Franken's campaign advertisements.

The first part of the two-part complaint got tossed right away; that was the ad that claimed ol' Smokescreen was "living almost rent-free." Anyone following Coleman's RentGate and UtilityGate (let alone SuitCase) scandals remembers Norm's pal Jeff "Landlord" Larson taking used furniture one month, not cashing checks, never charging late fees, and not even charging rent for two months, until Edward Pound, in The National Journal, broke the story. The Good Judge found Team Franken's ads to be "an opinion and is not a statement capable of being proven factually true or false." So, she tossed part one of two, of Team Smokescreen's smokescreen administrative complaint.

Now, she's tossed the second part. And, let's look at The Good Judge's exact wording, in her order dismissing Team Smokescreen's smokescreen "administrative complaint":

T Minus 67 - The Mendacity Of The misAdministration

"If you've got somebody in harm's way, you want the president being -- making advice, not -- be given advice by the military, and not making decisions based upon the latest Gallup poll or focus group." -- George orWell Bush, New Albany, Indiana, November 13th, 2007

Yeah, "right."

Boy Blunder can't spit it out properly, and even if he could, how does he square "we don't listen to Gallup polls" with Karl Rove's role as Chief Political Advisor, let alone the new organization set up in Boy Blunder's misAdministration (immediately after the theft of the election Bush's "win") - the Office of Strategic Initiatives?

Here's how The White House describes the Office of Stragegic Initiatives:

T Minus 68 - The Change Americans Expect

"Let me start off by saying that in 2000 I said, 'Vote for me. I'm an agent of change.' In 2004, I said, 'I'm not interested in change --I want to continue as president.' Every candidate has got to say 'change.' That's what the American people expect." -- George orWell Bush, The Rose Garden, March 5th, 2008

What the American people expect is "competency." And in 68 days, January 20th, 2009 will be The End Of An Error.
