For the third time, the THIRD time, our esteemed governor vetoed a transportation bill that would enable Minnesotans to get from here to there safely. We could even cross bridges without plummeting into the waters beneath. The bill was carefully crafted and had strong bipartisan support. The veto wasn't exactly a surprise. Afterwards, did our governor jump up with pen in hand and grin on face? Did he tap out a few dance steps while telling us that he, our cute-cute-governor-who's-on-the-short-list-of-Mc-Cain's-possible-running-mates, will save us from ourselves? Frankly, I can do without these charming Fred Astaire moments, but I'm growing used to them.
What we do know, fellow Minnesotans, is that our legislators today actually voted to override the veto. Wow! If you are pleased with how your legislators voted, thank them. Legislators, like children, respond well to positive reinforcement. Just think of it! Today our cute, cute governor struck out!
Strike Three!
