Flanagan and Obermueller win Take Action MN endorsement
Peggy Flanagan (58A) and Mike Obermueller (38B) won Take Action Minnesota endorsement tonight. Mike by unanimous consensus (by acclimation) and Peggy on the first ballot.
Mike was hoping for endorsement to win the last seat in Eagan still held by Republicans. This is Tim Pawlenty's district. It'd be killer if we could turn Governor Pepsodent's district totally blue!
Mike lost by 106 votes last time. He's a very earnest guy, great sense of humor and who stands up for what he believes in. He would be a great Rep. I wish him all the best and highly recommend that city DFLers head down to 38B and help him out. Hopefully, I can get an interview lined up with him in the near future.
Peggy Flanagan was up against Jonathan Palmer and John Munger to depose Joe Mullery, the incumbent. Peggy spoke first then Joe then Palmer then Munger. Yes, John is a grandson of Willard in case anyone was wondering.
Peggy is passionate about telling the success stories of North Minneapolis. She understands the challenges she faces to make improvements there. If elected she would be the first woman to represent 58A and the first indigenous elected to the MN House. Her background as an organizer and activist has made her a good School Board member and will make her a good Rep. Plus, endorsements from people like Keith Ellison, Matt Entenza and a bunch of City Council members doesn't hurt, either. I'll get to that in a minute.
Jonathan Palmer was quite good. Unfortunately, it is not his time. He's eloquent, understands the issues and would be a good. John Munger is willing to stand up for environmental issues and is a policy wonk (and I mean that as a compliment) to be taken seriously. I also wish John the best as well.
Here's the breakdown of the first ballot:
| Candidate | Votes | Percentage |
| Peggy Flanagan | 21 | 84% |
| Joe Mullery | 2 | 8% |
| Jonathan Palmer | 2 | 8% |
| John Munger | 0 | 0% |
[Update] I'm wrong about her possibly being the first indigenous person elected to the State House. You can find a list of some of the others here.

And Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer won!
Just to note that Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer also won the straw poll for the U.S. Senate vote, with a vote of 53% to 41% for Franken. (Mike Ciresi didn't show up and got only a few votes...I forget how many.)
This is somewhat remarkable because Franken brought in an entire busload of supporters to vote for him, but ended up losing the vote anyway. Given the numbers of Franken supporters at the beginning of the event, it is almost certain that Jack won at least a few converts among those who came in the Franken bus. That is exactly what has been happening at almost every single debate or forum. They told me at Jack's office Monday that one of Franken's former supporters actually showed up at the office to volunteer the next day, and had to drive an hour and a half to put in the time.
(I hope the bus didn't leave any of Franken's supporters behind on Sunday, even if they did change their minds.)
Flanagan, please check facts before you say them
"If elected she would be the first woman to represent 58A and the first indigenous elected to the MN House" It would be true to say that she would be the first woman to represent the area but by no way would she be the first indigenous person elected to the House of Representative. You all need to learn your history before you make a claim like that. I am sure former State Rep and now Congress woman McCollum would take offence to that as well as the other native people listed on this web site by the Legislative Library. But then again don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Mea culpa
I updated the post. I possibly misheard Peggy. I thought I heard her say first in the state, but she could have also said "first for this seat." I wasn't taking very accurate notes apparently.
You were correct
I was there that is what she said. That is why it stuck in my head. I thought it was a large claim that no one in attendence questioned her on.
City Council Endorsements for Flanagan
In the interest of full disclosure I will say that I am volunteering as Jonathan Palmer's campaign manager. That said, you wrote that Flanagan is endorsed by "a bunch of City Council members." Which ones?
Endorsements
From the Take Action Minnesota handout about each candidate, here are her endorsements:
Rep. Keith Ellison
Former House Minority Leader Matt Entenza
CM Scott Benson
CM Elizabeth Glidden
CM Robert Liligren
CM Ralph Remington
CM Gary Schiff
