Ron Carey: Pathetically Incompetent, or Criminally Culpable?
The allegations are serious - among others, illegal transfers of party funds from state to federal accounts and failure to properly account for employee retirement monies. Now, it appears that since last Thursday, the Republican Party of Minnesota, under republiCon Ron's "stewardship", has filed 38 Amended Reports with the Federal Election Commission. Just how deep does the incompetence go? Criminal, perhaps?
When there are Amended Reports, to Amended Reports, as many of these new Amended Reports are, it makes it difficult to track what, exactly, the State Republican Party was up to. In other words, these corrections to previously corrected reports opens up more questions than they answer.
What this really makes clear, is Ron Carey standing at a microphone, and questioning Al Franken over financial paperwork is hypocrisy at it's worst. Ron had to know that these Amended Reports were getting ready to be filed; yet he stood at that microphone and thew stone after stone after stone.
republiCon Ron has thoroughly and completely discredited himself. Additionally, he has cast doubt on each and every employee of the Republican Party of Minnesota - what did they know, and when did they know it? And how about the Republican State Committee - how well did they do of holding their party's leadership accountable? Given a choice of keeping republiCon Ron, or choosing to clean house with Colonel Repya, they chose the chickenhawk-in-charge, and believed republiCon Ron's lies that Repya and his reform-minded collegues were "the enemies within."
There's plenty of responsibility to go around; somehow, I find it hard to believe "The Party Of Personal Responsibility" will actually hold anyone responsible.
Hypocrisy, thy party is Republican.
These days, republiCon Ron is ducking from questions and microphones. That said, even if Carey were to answer any questions on this latest batch of Amended Reports to Amended Reports, to use Carey's own words against him, uttered by him at a press conference, words directed at Franken, but now directed at Carey: "why would anyone believe him?"
Ron, how "right" you are: why WOULD anyone believe you?
