Fantasy Government
This has been an incredibly long primary season, and some of us have become extremely frazzled and sometimes upset. I am as guilty as others of falling into the pit of despair because we can't go after McCain yet, our candidates are alienating voters against each other, or there is negative and divisive rhetoric dominating the media.
Well, I think that it would be nice to just take a step back from it all for a moment and look at all the positive. Just look at all the new voters that having two candidates has brought in. So, there is much to be joyful about in the progressive world. In that spirit, I propose a fun diversion from the campaign season. As an admitted Fantasy Football nut, I propose we have a Fantasy Government competition. Think of all those great progressives! Here are the rules. Get ready to show us your wonkiest.
- Pick as many executive cabinet positions or appointments as you can for the next administration.
- You may give explanations of your choices, but it is not required to win.
- On February 1st, I will revisit this post and determine the winners.
- Each winner will receive some sort of progressive paraphernalia like a bumper sticker or something.
- One winner based on most correct picks
- One winner based on most inspiring Government
- One winner based on most creative Government (you must provide explanations for this one)
- Even Righties can play and put McCain at the top!
- There are obviously no wrong answers, so don't bash other people's picks
Example:
Pres-Obama
VP-Clinton
SecDef-Webb
SecState-Richardson
SecLabor-Nader (in exchange for not running)
AG-Edwards
SCOTUS Nominee- Feingold
SecEd-
SecHomeland-This dept.is repugnant and redundant and it should be eliminated
SecInterior-Gore
SecVA-Wesley Clark
SecTreas--
SecHHS--
SecTrans--
SecEnergy--
SecAg--
SecCommerce--Tom Hartman from Air America:)
SecHUD--
Feel free to include your rationale for your choices!

My Picks
President Obama
Vice President Richardson - because he can deliver New Mexico and he is strong on foreign policy
Other picks will be added when I think about it.
