The MPR BudgetHero game is an awesome game to both play and learn from. This game is a huge investment and a risk by American Public Media, the game's creator and copyright owner, so they really need high numbers, so please play and recommend widely.

For once, we can play and change the federal budget, seeing if we could do better than the current federal leadership. This budget does all of the number crunching for you. First you see what the current budget does. Then you can see the different icons grow and change as you make choices. Don't forget to click on the taxes icon and check out the choices. What I like about this realistic game is that one can no longer pretend that there is no consequences to cost of the wars. War funding takes 52% of all federal spending. The other huge effect is the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Simply by cutting military spending by the modest amount allowed by the game and implementing progressive fair taxation, I could pick every domestic program that I wanted.

I was able to pay down the debt and balance the budget, while still getting every program that I wanted. Here are my comparison results, to the self identified Democrats and Republicans available who also played the game, as of this date.
