Fear And Loathing In Rochester

The “fear” is of the truth, and he “loathing” is directed from Ron Carey and his minions towards those that refuse to sit down, shut up, and abide. You know – those that refuse to be bootlickers.

By now, most folk have heard about republiCon Ron tellin’ the Paulites “talk to the hand, ‘cause the face don’t wanna see it”; which is behaviour highly reminiscent of some pre-pubescent punk after bein’ told “you have to share.”

Hey – current GOP leadership doesn’t believe in “sharing” – just as they don’t believe in “governing.” They believe in “ruling”, and they believe they were destined to be the rulers. Everything you learned in kindergarten, republiCon Ron & Co ignored.

And they certainly ignored conventional wisdom with their choice of the curtain closer, Karl Rove. If republiCon Ron wanted to rally the base, he certainly did it – for the DFL.

republiCon Ron’s heavy hand didn’t end after the “official” end of the convention; not at all. While the rank ‘n file shuffled out of Rochester, the State Central Committee still had dirt to sweep under the rug, er, ‘scuse me, “still had work to do." And, true to form, they managed to piss people off while doing it.

I’m hearing from some seriously pissed off people, and here’s just one example:

Hey, TwoPutt - only a few questions were asked of the guy that did the audit, Michael Toner. All the FEC problems were called "clerical errors made by the accounting staff" dating back to 2002. Under questioning, Toner admitted that the second error noted in his report on page 3 dealing with federal/nonfederal disbursements was a seven digit error. Joe Repya asked Ron Carey a question, "If the Star Tribune articles are lies and slander as you have stated to this meeting, why hasn't the party brought a libel suit against the Tribune."

But Tony Sutton got up to answer the question. Repya tried to get Carey to answer the question. Sutton then ducked the question and ripped Repya instead.

A shouting match began. Carey took the podium and said that a libel suit would be hard to pursue. He then recognized the next person to the microphone who called for immediate adjournment. The whole thing was a set up to duck questions, to attack those that asked for accountability, and to end the meeting as soon as possible. Reagan's spinning in his grave.

Obviously, this guy didn't want his name used, but fortunately, some of this was taped, and is now up on YouTube

Folks, republiCon Ron is leading a party with a siege mentality – Paulites? "We won't HEAR you!!!" Star-Tribune? “liars and slanderers.” Those that question the (lack of)clothes the Emperor wears? “The Enemy Within.” Consider this: Rove told the true believers in the crowd to talk to folks "just like them"; to get people "just like them" to vote for Republican candidates.

I’m here to tell ya there just aren’t that many bootlickers out there; bootlickers “just like them.” Because, the Paulites aren’t “just like them”; those that question party leadership aren’t "just like them". Very few are actually "just like them", but make no mistake: they ARE the base; a base that will only expand to make room for those that are "just like them."

And republiCon Ron really does have what clearly seems to be paranoia when it comes to Colonel Repya; Ron’s singled out Repya for almost a year. Link here
for republiCon Ron’s screed against Repya, last year.

What everyone needs to remember is that the fact the Republican Party Of Minnesota’s financial problems have been under discussion for a year is a) the result of Republicans airing their own financial problems, and b) republiCon Ron refusing to face the problem publicly. Indeed, not only is republiCon Ron is still trying to hide this problem, he refuses to answer questions about it.

This problem is indicative of the simple fact that locally and nationally, the GOP - as a party - has been hijacked by people that are neither Republicans nor conservatives.

The cancer that is manifest nationally by people such as Jack Abramoff, Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, Mark Foley, and yes, Karl Rove, is manifest locally by people like republiCon Ron and his minions.
