Laura Brod, "Hypocrite Of The Month" Nominee

So, I googled “Abramoff Saipan” and the very first hit was:

ABC News: DeLay's Lavish Island Getaway

The second was:

CNN.com - The real scandal of Tom DeLay - May 9, 2005

And on and on and on and on it went. There is no question that Jack Abramoff and the GOP (GreedOverPrinciples) party is deeply tied to the island of Saipan, where the American Flag flies – because it is American territory; an American Protectorate.

So then, I googled “Saipan Prostitution”, and the very first hit read:

2020expose.html This time, he has found evidence that some young women are being lured into Saipan’s triving sex trade and forced into onstage sex acts and prostitution…

Now, the important thing to remember is that while the Jack Abramoff Scandal was unfolding, ol’ Smokescreen, Norm Coleman, was head of the Senate’s Investigations Subcommittee.

While all these stories of Abramoff, forced prostitution, and yes, forced abortions were swirling, Norm Coleman was part of Bush The Lesser’s “Truth Squad” which did it’s damndest to cover the truth up.

Now, I bring this up because a contender for the June Hypocrite Of The Month, State Rep. Laura Brod, got in front of a microphone earlier today, and proceeded to remove all doubt why she’s in the lead.

“To the thousands of women in this nation who are raped and sexually assaulted, the prospect that a man who made his living joking about these things would be a United States Senator must be horrifying,” Brod proclaimed.

What a partisan hack.

Representative Brod, what’s horrifying is you carrying water for an incumbent Senator that could have done something about forced prostitution and forced abortion, but didn’t.

Here's part of a story I found, from a publication called ”Islands Business”:

Politics: CRACKING THE WHIP ON FOREIGN WORKERS
Dancers under the microscope

Criselda B. Hernandez

Ethel (not her real name) was only 18 when she came to Saipan last year. Only her mother knows her real job abroad.

“My father wouldn’t approve of it and I’m not going to tell my brothers and sisters,” said Ethel, one of the more than 100 stripclub dancers employed in various clubs on Saipan, the capital of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

The CNMI, a United States territory about 3900 miles west of Hawaii, is home to over 30,000 alien workers, mostly from China and the Philippines lured by the promise of “good American jobs”.

Waiting in the wings... sex workers in Saipan.
A United States national feminist magazine, Ms. Magazine, recently described Saipan as a “paradise lost,” referring to the exploitation of women, mostly Chinese and Filipinos, in the garment and sex tourism industries.

Unlike most of her colleagues who choose to stay on Saipan, Ethel is going back to her hometown province in the Philippines to finish high school.

She came from a poor family and was only able to finish third year high school before she decided to work abroad.

Now that she has earned enough to continue her studies, she is willing to leave behind her life—that of dancing naked in front of strangers every night. She remembers that on the same day she arrived on Saipan, she had to work right away.

“I was so nervous on the first night and I was not a good dancer then. Since that was my first night, I was allowed to have my panty on. But after that, I had to dance totally naked,” she said.

The nightclub where she used to work is now the subject of investigations by the CNMI Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Labour for various criminal and labour allegations that include employment of minors, sexual servitude of a minor, human trafficking, illegal confinement of workers, non-payment or improper payment of wages and illegal deductions, among other things.

Ironically, the club where she used to work is right across a police station. (Islands Business)

What's really ironic, is that club that was for all intents and purposes invisible to the police station, was also invisible to Minnesota's incumbent Senator.

That incumbent would be he who was Chair of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee On Investigations - Republican Senator Norm “Smokescreen” Coleman, R=Lapdog.

And Represenative Brod is one more sorry example of why "GOP" today stands for "GreedOverPrinciples".

Insular areas = protectoratorates

There are the states, then the District of Columbia, the the Insular Areas (I think the British word is protectorates)

However much you love or hate Wikipedia, if one looks up insular areas there is an easy to follow outline.

An atoll is a collection of islands. Wake Island is really a collection of small-type islands called atolls. In some cases it is called Wake Atoll.

I've been on Wake Island or Wake Atoll; that is why I mention it. It is also the place where General McArthur met with President Truman and General McArthur did NOT salute Truman.

That was the first order of Truman's business in the car. [On such a small atoll they really didn't need a car.]

Well, ol' Smokescreen never visited Saipan, but:

he sure the hell covered up for what went on there.

Laura Brod is either the most naive republiCon to ever serve in the statehouse, or just as corrupt as ol' Smokescreen.

Stay tuned; she's on the radar now!

"I never thought I'd see the day I'd miss Richard Nixon."

An atoll is a coral that surrounds a lagoon.

An atoll is a collection of small-type islands, however, they surround or partially surround a lagoon.

Wake Island has 12 miles of total coral coast, however, limited plane runway space, and just a very few feet above sea level.

A car was useful depending on how far and how fast one wanted to go.
