Arnie Carlson vs Norm Coleman
Remember, I wrote about a sruvey from Mountain West Research. So a reliable reader wrote in about their experiences with this survey. The questions forcused around the senate race, including Arnie Carlson. The race matchups were Carlson v. Coleman, Ciresi v. Coleman, and Franken v. Coleman? Anyone out there get a similar survey?
Do we have a draft Arnie Carlson as an independent movement? On the last filing day for the senate race, we now have the possiblity of Ciresi, Carlson and Ventura filing. We could have a five way race. Hmmm, I wonder who would win?

With those 5
With those 5, Coleman would win, unfortunately.
Coleman victory
I agree, if the Dem/moderate vote is that split, Coleman would win, just barely. If it were only Ciresi v Franken v Coleman, that would be interesting.
Interesting...
I got a push poll call including Arne as a DFL candidate just before the caucuses.
I do not think that anyone is going to challenge Al for the DFL endorsement, and I do not believe Ciresi would leave the DFL. If someone were going to run in the primary, they should have been spending money on ads already, as the primary is only 60 days away.
It is not easy to get on the ballot for statewide office without a major party. The candidate needs to collect signatures from a number of people equal to 5% of the total votes cast last time in each US congressional district. Neither Jesse nor Arne can get it done - the Greens can barely get it done, and they have a statewide party apparatus that is decades old now.
Arne and Jesse would be game changing candidates if they were IPMN endorsed.
Arne could actually win as an IP candidate, IMHO, or at least get close. Jesse can only spoil it, say 15% total. Arne, if he didn't win, would deliver the seat to Al, as there are a lot of GOP types who don't want to vote for the status quo but can't vote for the author of "Rush Limbaugh..." and he appeals as a "good old days" kind of guy. Jesse, on the other hand, is going to hurt Al more if he gets onto the November ballot, because his appeal is still to 18-25 year olds who want to give the finger to the establishment.
If Arne ran in the DFL primary, I think he would lose. He could cause some problems for Al, but if it seemed like that was what he was trying to do, then it wouldn't work. I don't see Arne running to lose.
GOP Primary
Would Arnie run in the GOP Primary against Norm? I see Norm GOP support as very shallow, "hold your nose and vote" level. So Arnie could probably beat Norm, especially if polls showed that Arnie had a better chance against Al Franken.
