Al Franken endorsed by Progressive Patriots Fund, Red to Blue MN
The fundraiser for Al Franken yesterday evening at Alan Hooker’s in beautiful north Minneapolis was a great success. Thank you to everyone who attended and to everyone helping support our great US Senate candidate. Al performed his famous freehand drawing of the contiguous states and auctioned off the piece to an attendee for $350. All told, a significant amount of money was raised, all of which will be put to good use retiring Norm Coleman. In addition, a great time was had by all.
I was really impressed with Al in personal conversation - he has been attacked from the right as being standoffish or angry, and nothing could be further from the truth. He is easy to approach, funny without being mean, and is equally at home discussing the mundane (dogs and babies) as he is discussing lofty and complicated policy issues like healthcare and Iraq or essential and simple principals like dedication to civil rights. I strongly recommend that readers take advantage of any opportunity they can find to meet this charismatic leader in person.
Also this week, Al joined Ashwin Madia, Steve Sarvii and Elwin Tinklenberg as an endorsee of Act Blue and was also endorsed by Russ Feingold’s Progressive Patriots Fund. If you missed last night’s event, or just want to do a little more to restore essential oversight functions to the federal government, these two organizations are itching to help you out. Please contribute today.
And, on a personal note, if anyone comes across the photo of my son Lennon with the candidate, I'd love to get a copy.
