Idea for a McCain/Obama Ad
A young boy is flying is making plane flying noises and waving a paper airplane around. He deliberately crashes the plane, making explosion sounds.
The young boy picks up a new airplane from a stack of ready made paper airplanes. Plane flying noises start again.
Mom's voice off camera, "Kenny, what are do doing?", Boy's excited voice, "Crashing airplanes like McCain"
Pause, airplane flying noises, another crash.
Mom's voice off camera, "Kenny, why don't you play Obama and do your homework?" New plane in the air, airplane flying noises.
Kenny, "I'm doin' my homework, I doin' a report on how McCain crashed five airplanes!"
Another airplane crashes, with huge explosions sounds.

Proven fact by donation disclosure: Deployed troops donate to Obama at a 6 to 1 clip compared to McCain. Maybe you should let the troops decide who supports the troops.
The reason Dems are only 20% in the military historically is because of the bullshit spin of the Republicans. If it comes down to a troops life vs. corporate contractor profits, Republicans will choose corporate contraactor profit almost every single time.
One egregious case, a panel of generals and admirals requested that Bush let them put together a panel of generals to provide some oversight on all the contracctor waste. So, the troops wanted to protect taxpayer dollars as well as quality of equipment being provided troops. Bush denied the will of the troops, and said it was because it would make it too hard to profit.
The Republicans support the military industry, but never, ever the troops or vets.

War profiteering
In my grandfather's generation, the greatest generation, Republicans would have imprisoned and humilated war profiteers. Now, Republicans promote and exalt war profiteers. It is just sick and un-Amaerican. Bush et al have caused this problem by asking so few to sacrifice while helping others to multiple billions. My grandfather was an honorable Republican who supported his country.I am not sure what this new crop is, but they hate America worse than any anarchist.

Hey Grace-LT McCain was fighting communism in Vietnam, and he was fighting for your freedom of speech. Since you seem to value being free to speak your mind, maybe you could find a little less humor in a man who five times nearly died for your right to make an ass of yourself. In any case, you've shown that you value politics above the troops, so you're nonsense statements about supporting us has been exposed to be a sham.
I was tempted to ask Grace if she thinks she could do any better in a fighter jet, but that's just a useless question. But I would like to invite Grace to train with the soldiers in my National Guard unit for a day, to see if you could keep up with us.

It is easy for a young person to physically challenge an old person because after all, "might makes right". Yep you could physically beat the crap out of me and I would still believe what I believe. I am regularly threatened by people on this blog. I still speak!

First of all, thanks for your past service to our country and serving our country in the Guard.
Now about what you said.
While you defended America in the past, are you defending Americans from being wiretapped? I doubt it. Are you defending Americans right to habeas corpus? No. I imagine from all your concern-trolling that you think all of that perfectly okay. You seem to mindlessly repeat Republican talking points. Despite being a retired soldier, I'm guessing from your endless repetition of the Republican talking points that you have no problem with the US torturing captured prisoners. Extraordinary rendition? I can't imagine you having a problem with it.
Am I wrong assuming that you don't think our soldiers are in greater danger because the people we are fighting won't surrender because they might be tortured? As I recall from studying WWII, German mothers and fathers told their sons to surrender to the Americans because we will treat them well.
So what are you defending now? Now you simply defend Republican talking points.
Now about supporting the troops.
The Republicans and the Bush Administration have abandoned our troops in Iraq without proper body armor and properly armored vehicles. It is the Democrats who insisted that they troops get the proper armor that they deserve. Did you do anything to get the troops proper armor?
The Republicans and the Bush Administration have slashed the VA budgets even during wartime. They have outsourced the maintenance of VA facilities resulting in the Walter Reed Medical Facility. Did you write your congresscritters asking them to support properly funding our VA system?
Somehow, I think that the only thing you have done is defend the right wing talking points on the various places you blog and in comments here and at other sites.
Finally, I think Grace has no ambition to become a fighter pilot nor spend a day with you in the Guards. Grandpa McSame was supposed to be a fully-qualified fighter pilot. It's too bad he just wasn't such a good one. Being physically capable of fighting wars has nothing to do with pointing out that McSame crashed five jets.

McCain, the "below par" pilot, eventually lost 5 military aircraft, the first during a training flight in 1958 when he plunged into Corpus Christi Bay while trying to land. The Navy ignored the crash and graduated McCain in 1960.

I don't think soldiers are dumb, I just think it is human nature to believe your leaders actually give a shit about you, so we are pre-disposed you might say to trusting Republican lies. In addition, the corporate media does nothing to dispel this myth of Republican superiority on military matters. Think of it like this. I bet 80% of Americans probably believe that if we opened up ANWR to drilling, that production would increase tomorrow and prices would drop to $2 a gallon, just like Michelle Bachmann said. 80% of people believed Samdaad had WMD. When politicians lie, it doesn't make the people believing them stupid.
Now, why do you defend war profiteering so vigorously? My guess is because you want to believe in your leaders, no matter the cost. You do not want to think they would put profit ahead of your life.
P.S. Viet Nam did not threaten anyones freedom of speech.
