DNC Miguel Lindgren Reports In

As promised, now that I have a few minutes to catch my breath, here is a quick report from "ground zero."

The hectic pace of the convention is enough to make your head spin if you let it. There is so much to do that choosing among the events becomes a real chore.

We arrived at our hotel in Denver on Sunday night, at about 8:00 pm and already had missed much of the welcoming activities that began that afternoon. So we decided to have dinner and charge our batteries to what promised to be a long day on Monday.

Sure enough, Monday was a very long but very satisfying day. It began with a 7:00 am breakfast that was memorable as Vice President Mondale and Senator Amy Klobuchar joined our table for breakfast. After the daily business of handling credentials and addressing issues of alternates and guest passes to the convention center and to the Pepsi Center (the actual location of the DNC) we headed to the Denver Convention Center to attend the Latino Caucus meeting. Besides hearing from influential members of the Congressional Latino Caucus, the group was addressed but none other than Hillary Clinton who asked many of her supporters in the Latino community to unify behind Barack Obama.

The DNC opened at 3:00 pm at the Pepsi Center and as you probably have read, Michelle Obama brought the house down with an incredible speech. The scene during the speech with all sorts of banner waving and shouting and dancing from the stands was electrifying.

Mondays session ended at 9:00 pm and entertainment opportunities were plenty. We chose to attend a party given by the Latino Leaders Network where once again we had the opportunity to engage many influential political leaders from the Latino community including Governor Richardson, former Secretary of Transportation Federico Pena and many others.

It's Tuesday and I'm exhausted but I'm taking a bit of a break to recharge my batteries to return to the Pepsi center for tonight's key not speaker, Hillary Clinton. The event promises to be very exciting.

I'm exhausted but hope to write back from the DNC later.
