Sarvi's new website and Kline's vote against renewable energy

The Big E's picture

Steve Sarvi has upgraded his website. Among other additions is a blog and a The Kline Record detailing all the bad votes by John Kline (R-MN). To highlight that, Kline had a made yet another bad vote today. He voted against tax incentives to help Minnesota change it's economy where we build the wind turbines, solar panels and other green technology here. It would also provide tax incentives for consumers to buy hybrid cars and energy efficient appliances.

“Once again, Rep. Kline has put loyalty to wealthy campaign contributors above the needs of the people he was elected to serve. On the same day it was announced that Minnesota faces a billion-dollar deficit and falling economic growth, it’s hard to believe our own Congressman voted against the economic stimulus we would enjoy by investing less in the old oil economy and more in the bright future of renewable energy. Minnesotans are eager for high-quality, green-economy jobs – such as manufacturing wind turbines here instead of buying them overseas – but Rep. Kline would rather his constituents provide subsidies to oil companies raking in record profits. His dependence on oil industry campaign contributions is an addiction he can’t kick.”

Thankfully, the adults are in charge of the House and passed this bill.

Here's some more details on the bill.

Today, the House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 5351 which includes important tax credits to promote renewable energy production from wind, solar, geothermal, cellulosic ethanol and biofuels and other sources, many of which are set to expire at the end of the year. And for good measure they even tossed in a tax credit for riding your bicycle.

Ways and Means Chairman (and original sponsor of this bill) Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) said “The issues of global warming, climate change and America’s addiction to foreign oil have arisen on our watch and they have reached the level of a national crisis that threatens our health, our economy, and our national security. One day our children and grandchildren will ask where we stood when we had the opportunity to chart a new course for America’s energy policy and this bill takes an important first step in that direction.”
(Know About Congress)

Kline couldn't vote against his bosses at Big Oil. They've made record profits yet still enjoy massive government subsidies thanks to their hired help in Congress. They will continue funding John Kline's political career.

So please donate to Steve's campaign. Steve can beat John Kline with your help.

It's all about JOBS but Kline is jobbing Minnesota

Glad to see that Mr. Sarvi is pointing out this outrageous vote. Perhaps, if Mr. Kline talked with the workers at Wind Turbine Industries in Prior Lake, he would know how alternative energy can be good business for Minnesota.

Amazingly, only FIVE big oil companies would have been negatively impacted by this legislation. And, the tax credit will actually increase in future years.

I wrote about this on my blog last week.
