Why won't John Kline even try and help his district?

The Big E's picture

Today, politicians from all levels of Minnesota government got together to discuss replacing the Hastings bridge which is in desperate condition. This bridge hasn't been adequately maintained as a result of Republicans at both the state and federal level refusing to adequately fund our infrastructure maintenance. After years of funding pork barrel products for his Republican friends, Rep. John Kline (R-MN02) has sworn off pork. Of course, this means he won't try and get money for his district to replace a bridge that's about to fall down.

Today, as U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Jim Oberstar, MnDOT Commissioner Tom Sorel, state legislators and Hastings city councilors came together to discuss progress on planning for the replacement of the Hastings Bridge over Highway 61, one face was noticeably absent: Rep. John Kline.

Kline's DFL challenger, Steve Sarvi, was present at the meeting. One of Sarvi's chief reasons for opposing Kline is Kline's lack of accessibility and service to the Second Congressional District, including his refusal to seek federal funds for critical infrastructure projects such as the Hastings Bridge.

John Kline won't show his face because he doesn't want to be confronted with his failings. I doubt he's embarrassed ... by avoiding any situations where his failings can be pointed out, all these problems don't exist. Kline reminds me of the Kids in the Hall sketch in which nobody's home.

With John Kline's tenure reminiscent of a comedy sketch, his inability to represent the people of MN-02 because of the latest fashion among Republicans (no pork), with his support of endless war in Iraq, with Kline's support of the Bush Administration's disastrous economic policies, is there any better reason to support Steve Sarvi?
